Recently, I stumbled upon an article by Omar Itani on the seven principles of optimism. As someone who values the power of gratitude and strives for a pawsitive perspective, I devoured the content. One of the seven principles struck me more than the rest. Love fearlessly. Be willing to love more than you fear. This lesson came to roost this past week when our lives hit the super spin cycle and left us wrung out.
For a week, Ken experienced flu-like symptoms, achiness, fatigue, and fever that I hoped would pass in a few days, not just because Ken felt miserable, but also because Grace had an upcoming surgery scheduled after a golf ball-sized mass appeared on her elbow.
“These cells don’t look good,” said our vet after he plunged a hypodermic needle into the mass to retrieve some of its contents. A few minutes later, a lab test revealed a sarcoma – cancer.
